Library in a Bag!

Library in a Bag!

Here at Pierce County Library, we try and think of various ways we can help you get the information you need when looking for a job, starting a business, and building skill sets. Currently we have six physical Job + Business Centers with four dedicated computers each and extra books on these subjects; and then of course we have the Job + Business Center website, to access our resources no matter where you are. Coming soon, we have: Library in a bag!

When trying to find books on a certain topic, such as writing a business plan, it can be frustrating to figure out which books are the best, and then track those books down from our many branches.  Our new service, Library in a Bag, does that work for you: for five different subjects we have gathered together what we think are the best, newest items to help you out.  The five topics are:

  • Starting a Business
  • Business Plan
  • Writing a Resume
  • Job Search
  • Changing Careers

So where are these Libraries in a Bag? A set of five bags will be “living” at each of the six libraries that currently have Job + Business Centers: Gig Harbor, Lakewood, Parkland/Spanaway, South Hill, Sumner, and University Place.  But you can also request to have them sent to the branch nearest you; it’s like a handy dandy mobile library, complete with its own bag.  What could be more convenient? To find these bags, you can search two different ways: either by looking for the above phrases as a title (for example, searching our catalog for Changing Careers); or by searching “library in a bag” as a series.
