Oh, My Aching Back! Free Health and Safety Training Materials

Every year thousands of people become ill or are injured through preventable, work-related mishaps.  Whether you are an employee or business owner you recognize the high cost in both economic loss and in human suffering. The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries wants to promote a safe and healthy work environment to employers and employees.  To this end, L&I has created The Safety and Health Video Library and Resource Center.

The L&I’s video library contains 2400 VHS and DVD to borrow and 53 online health and safety videos that are available to download directly from the L&I website.  The library covers a wide range of topics applicable to industrial, medical, retail and office worksites. Some examples of the topics covered are, Back Safety, Crime Prevention, First Aid, Food Service Safety, Ergonomics, as well as titles that are industry specific.   Job-related stress can cause illness and the L&I library has videos on that subject as well.  The videos are generally short and many are available in Spanish.  If learning with a touch of humor is your style, L&I provides a list of videos with humor.  Maybe you want to hear the personal stories of people who were injured on the job, or who were spared injury because the employer had a successful safety plan, look for motivational videos.   Whatever your taste, the Safety and Health Video Library and Resource Center is a great place to look for training materials.  The specifics of setting up an account, borrowing videos, and a full listing of titles can be found on the L&I website. Who knows, the back you save may be your own.
