Math and English Basic Skills Review for Adults

Many adults feel the need to brush up on their basic math and English skills before taking an entrance or placement exam. No matter how many basic skills books the library system has, it seems the one you need is seldom on the shelf the day you need it. Pierce County Library now offers an online resource for basic math and English grammar review.

The Skill Building for Adults module in the LearningExpress Library consists of short courses and practice tests in areas such as math fundamentals, algebra, geometry, reading comprehension, synonyms, antonyms, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, parts of speech, and writing practice.

New users of LearningExpress Library need to create an account using your Pierce County Library card number . Once you have created an account at LearningExpress, you add courses and tests to the “My Center” that is attached to your account. As you would expect, Learning Express Library keeps track of your progress through a course, allowing you to start and stop as needed. After taking a practice test and receiving your score, you are presented with recommendations for further tests and courses, allowing you to direct your study to your weak areas.

Additional links to Learning Express Library can be found in the Career and Education category of Pierce County Library’s e-sources.
